False Eyelash Application

False eyelashes can help bring your everyday makeup look to the next level. Some may like to wear them everyday, others, only on special occasions! There are many variations of lashes, and choosing the right ones for your eye shape and style can be overwhelming. I will break down which ones to purchase, and how to get them on (and staying on!). Plus some fun extra tips at the end!

1- Where to Buy: The nice thing about lashes is that they are readily available at almost any drugstore, Walmart, or beauty store. I frequently buy them from CVS and Ulta. My favorite brands are Ardell and Kiss. Both of these brands offer a thin band and a variety of styles. What does that mean? It means, it's going to be more flexible, easier to apply, and more comfortable to wear.

2- Style: If you're wanting a bolder look, I recommend the Ardell Wispies. They will give a full look, without feeling too over the top. If you want something a little more subtle, shoot for the Demi Wispies, or individual lashes. There are always some options in between, too! 

3- Glue: Some lash sets will come with glue in the package, but most do not. I highly recommend the Kiss Sensitive Eyes Lash Glue. It will dry clear, and does not contain Latex, which is a common allergen/ irritant. If you have that sensitivity, be sure to read labels! This comes in a white tube with a brush applicator. 

4- Measuring & Cutting: Once you have purchased the lashes, now the fun part begins! Grab some small scissors, the lash glue, some lash tweezers (soft ended), and your falsies. Peel out each lash gently, starting from a corner. Next, you'll want to measure it to your eye; do this by holding the lash right above your lash line. Look to see how much excess band is on the outer corner. You'll want to take your scissors and cut that off. Depending on your shape, it's normally about 5-6 Centimeters. 

5- Glue & Stick: Once you have your lashes cut to fit each eye, it's time to apply the glue. Gently brush the adhesive across the band. You'll want a thin, non-clumpy layer. I usually apply a tad bit more on the corners. Now, if you get anything from this, remember to LET THE GLUE GET TACKY! Hold the lash in the air for about 45 seconds to a minute before applying. Now you'll want to grab those soft ended tweezers and grip the lashes on the falsie. Bring that up to your upper lash line, and apply to the middle first, then stick each corner down. Try to get it as CLOSE to your natural lash line as possible. Keep pressing down across the band until it feels secure. Lastly, I like to add a small coat of mascara to really blend them in with your natural lashes.

BOOM! You just applied your falsies. Now, don't get too disgruntled if they don't quite work the first few times- that is NORMAL. The best thing to do is keep practicing. Everything I said above is also personal preference, and what works for me. You may find something that works even better!

Helpful Tips: Try applying a thin line of black or dark brown eyeliner to your upper lash line before applying the lashes. This can help them blend in with your natural ones a bit better. When you're ready to take them off, gently pull from the outer corner. You can also lightly pull the glue off, and put the lashes back in their package to re-use. *Do not do this if you're sharing lashes or glue*
